Le Petit Carnaval is a French festival featuring Tucson's most sophisticated cultural entertainers gathering at the Fox Theater on Saturday, February 7, 2009 for a special evening of dazzling spectacle. There will be a gathering of indoor and outdoor entertainers, bakeries and wineries capped off by performances by musician Marianne Dissard with Matt Mitchell and Le Big Band, and performances by Cabaret Bohème, and music by Le Chat Lunatique and Marvelle.
The event begins at 7 pm at the Fox, 17 West Congress. Congress Street will be closed off to make room for the many activities. There will be fire eaters, clowns, buskers and fortune telling. Inside the Fox, local restaurateurs will be serving up baked goods, chocolates and wine.
Tucson based Marianne Dissard plays music that is a cross between Southwestern noir and acoustic French pop, and her debut album "L'Entredeux" was produced, composed and performed by Calexico's Joey Burns. Le Chat Lunatique performs music in the style of swing. Rock and indie band Marvelle comes from Minnesota. Tucson's naughty Vaudeville Variety Show, Cabaret Boheme, has been performing to sellout crowds for the past two years.
Tickets cost $22.
